Vivitrol®
- Treatment for Alcohol Dependence
- Once-monthly injection given by health care provider
- Used to help prevent relapse to Opioid Dependence after detox
- Non-addictive
Requirements
- Patient must be 18 years or older
- You must be opioid-free for a minimum of 14 days to avoid sudden opioid withdrawal
- You should stop drinking before starting VIVITROL
- Vivitrol must be used with other drug or alcohol recovery programs such as counseling
Suboxone®
- Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder
- Subutex® may be used as alternative during pregnancy
- Taken as a daily oral medication
Requirements
- Patient must be 18 years or older
- Suboxone must be used with other drug recovery programs such as counseling
- Must be detoxed at least 24-48 hours prior to initiation
Narcan®
- Can be used to treat opioid overdose in the case of an emergency
- Available in Pharmacy (no prescription needed)
